Deadline This is the next generation, and it’s going to be brutal.

Who Is Jamie Bell Playing — And Why the Recast?

Bell takes over the role of Duke Shelby — Tommy Shelby’s eldest son — which was played by Conrad Khan in the sixth season of the original series, and most recently by Barry Keoghan in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The new show takes place 10 years after the events of The Immortal Man and follows the next generation of the Shelby family in the 1950s. Variety The decade jump naturally called for an older, more seasoned Duke — and Bell fits perfectly.

What Is the New Show About?

In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions — a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy, with Duke Shelby at its blood-soaked heart: older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous. Creator Steven Knight adds: “The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel, and it will be a hell of a ride.” Netflix Tudum
