The upcoming Intel Core i9-10900K with a 5.1 GHz boost clock spotted

The newer Intel CPUs might be on their way for launch but before that, the Intel Core i9-10900K has been spotted on Geekbench with some pretty healthy improvement in multi-core scores from last gen.

The Intel Core i9-10900K's Geekbench scores threaten Ryzen 9 3900X

The well-known leaker @TUM_APISAK did find a system featuring an Intel Core i9-10900K processor in an ASRock Z490M Pro4 motherboard on Geekbench 5. The rig has managed to score 1,437 points in the single-core test and 11,390 points in the multi-core test.

Intel’s new offering Core i9-10900K is a 10-core, 20-thread CPU with a 3.70 GHz base clock and a boost clock of up to 4.8 GHz (all cores) and 5.3 GHz (single-core). The CPU is supposed to be having a default TDP of 125W.

The Blue team’s last flagship offering Core i9-9900KS was an 8 cores and 16 threads CPU with a default TDP set at 127W. Whereas the AMD competitor here features 12 cores and 24 threads with a higher base clock speed of 3.80 GHz and a boost of up to 4.6GHz along with a lower TDP of 105W.

The Intel Core i9-10900K's Geekbench scores threaten Ryzen 9 3900X

As per the benchmark results, we see the Intel chip unsurprisingly outscoring the Matisse chip in the single-core test but there’s no significant improvement in the single-core from last gen. But in the multi-core tests, we see the new Intel Core i9-10900K scoring 11,390 points which very close to Ryzen 9 3900X’s multi-core score of 12,134 points.

The Geekbench 5 result for the i9-10900K seems really promising for the Comet Lake processor which is still based on the age-old 14mm process. But if Intel is itself giving positive vibes seeing this then they are wrong because its real competition is against AMD’s upcoming Zen 3 “Vermeer” Ryzen desktop CPUs.
