Legendary cricketers like Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman thanked the 1983 World Cup legends on their social media accounts for encouraging people to play for their nation someday as India commemorated the 39th anniversary of their World Cup win.

India is commemorating its first World Cup triumph, which came 39 years ago under the guidance of renowned all-arounder Kapil Dev. “Date mein kya rakha hai?,” said former Indian opener Virender Sehwag in a tweet. Well, the date for the Rakhi is June 25th.

In 1932, India played its first-ever Test match on this day, and 51 years later, on June 25, 1983, Kapil Paaji and his team won the World Cup, which served as the start of many cricketers’ careers.
