“The Inbetweeners 3” Is Officially Happening — And The Original Gang Is Back

Twelve years is a long time to wait for a punchline. But Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil are finally returning, and this time Netflix is footing the bill.

The streamer has confirmed that production has begun in the UK on a brand-new “The Inbetweeners” movie. Originally a cult British sitcom that aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010, the show turned four painfully awkward teenagers into some of the most quoted characters in British comedy history.

What We Know So Far on The Inbetweeners 3?

This isn’t a reboot with new faces stepping into old roles — it’s the actual cast, back together, with the same creative minds who wrote the original series steering the ship. That matters. Revivals live or die on whether the chemistry that made the original work is still there, and having Beesley and Morris both writing and directing suggests Netflix isn’t just chasing nostalgia for a quick cash-in.

The timing makes sense too. Older episodes of the show found a massive second life on streaming, introducing the awkward misadventures of Rudge Park Comprehensive to a whole new generation who weren’t even watching TV when the original series aired. That’s the kind of organic rediscovery that makes a revival worth greenlighting rather than forcing.

Both previous “Inbetweeners” films set UK box office records for comedies, so the bar for this one is set high. But given the cast, the creative team, and the built-in audience streaming already delivered, expectations are cautiously optimistic.

Conclusion

Same lads, same writers, new platform. “The Inbetweeners 3” isn’t reinventing anything — it’s betting that the original formula still works, and given the show’s staying power, that’s not a bad bet.
