From Siblings to Star-Crossed Lovers

The casting feels deliberately provocative. For eight seasons on HBO, these actors played Jon Snow and Sansa Stark—protective siblings navigating Westeros politics. Now they’re Jago and Anne, former acquaintances whose romantic reunion unleashes supernatural consequences.

This isn’t Jon’s stoic heroism or Sansa’s calculated leadership. Instead, Turner embodies Anne, a woman trapped in isolation with her controlling mother-in-law Morwen, brilliantly played by Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden. When Harington’s Jago returns from war, he reignites not just old feelings but a terrifying curse that threatens everyone.

What the Trailer Reveals

The newly dropped Lionsgate trailer showcases Cornwall’s dramatic 600-foot cliffs and ancient architecture—real locations chosen specifically to avoid artificial studio sets. Director Natasha Kermani, known for horror expertise, crafted an atmosphere where every shadow feels dangerous.

The tension builds around the evolving relationship between Turner and Harington’s characters, moving from cautious reunion to passionate connection—and ultimately to something darker. The Wars of the Roses backdrop adds historical weight to the supernatural terror unfolding.

Behind the Scenes

Interestingly, Turner serves as producer and personally suggested casting Harington after reading the script. She believed he was perfect for Jago’s complex role. The entire cast worked with dialect coaches to develop authentic period accents that enhance the film’s eerie authenticity.

Supporting performances come from Laurence O’Fuarain as Seamus and Jonathan Howard as Brother Penros, rounding out this tale of isolation, forbidden love, and ancient curses.
