A Disturbing Plot That Reflects Dark Realities
Based on the webtoon “Ayishopping” by Eom Se-yoon, The Defects explores the horrifying world of illegal child adoption. The story follows Kim Se-hee, who operates under the twisted belief that only superior genes should survive, running an organization that provides “refunds” for adopted children who don’t meet expectations – with deadly consequences.
Won Jin-ah’s character, Kim A-hyeon, is one of these “returned” children who survived and now seeks revenge against the system that nearly destroyed her life.
What Makes This Drama Special
The series tackles heavy social issues while delivering edge-of-your-seat thriller elements. Won Jin-ah expressed excitement about showcasing “new sides of the actors,” promising viewers a fresh perspective on familiar faces.
The drama’s unique premise and stellar cast have already generated significant buzz among K-drama enthusiasts worldwide. With its dark themes and intense performances, The Defects stands out in the crowded landscape of Korean television.
Behind the Scenes
