What Happened in Episode 7? (Recap — Spoilers)

Episode 7, titled “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk”, is the most devastating hour of the season.

Homelander arrives at the Oval Office and kills President Steven Calhoun after reading his mind via Ashley — dissolving Congress, abolishing The Seven, and placing Ashley in the role of President. His god complex has never been more terrifying.

Meanwhile, desperate to level the playing field after Homelander takes V1 — making him potentially unkillable — Butcher, Frenchie, and Kimiko hatch a risky plan: use the same uranium radiation treatment that created Soldier Boy to turn Kimiko into something powerful enough to take Homelander down. But the episode’s gut punch comes at the end. Determined to keep Homelander from finding Sage and Kimiko, Frenchie provides the perfect distraction — trapping himself and Homelander in the uranium chamber. Creator Eric Kripke addressed the loss directly. “Frenchie and Kimiko’s relationship, in so many ways, is the sentimental heart of the Boys and of the season,” Kripke said. “I knew it would really be a heartbreaker, but it also propels Kimiko to where she needs to be in the next episode.
