Irumudi OTT Release Date: Ravi Teja’s Powerful Ayyappa Deeksha Drama Heads to Netflix

Irumudi OTT Release Date: Ravi Teja’s Powerful Ayyappa Deeksha Drama Heads to Netflix. A story about redemption, faith, and a father-daughter bond — Irumudi proved to be one of Telugu cinema’s more soulful surprises this year, and now it’s ready for its digital debut.

Irumudi OTT Release Date: When and Where to Watch

After wrapping up its theatrical run, which began on August 21, Irumudi will start streaming on Netflix from September 18, 2026. The film will be available across five languages — Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

What’s the Story?

Ravi Teja plays Trinadh Rama Kasu, an alcohol-addicted man with a violent past who now lives quietly with his young daughter near a waterfall in Polluru. At her request, he chooses reform, undertaking the sacred Ayyappa Deeksha — a pilgrimage that becomes both a spiritual journey and a test of trust as his troubled past resurfaces along the way. The father-daughter relationship remains the emotional core of the film throughout.

Why It Struck a Chord

Unlike Ravi Teja’s usual mass-entertainer image, Irumudi leans into a more grounded, emotionally driven narrative — something audiences and critics both praised. The film went on to earn strong box office numbers, with the actor publicly crediting director Shiva Nirvana for bringing out one of his most personally respected performances yet.

A Note of Controversy

The film did draw some backlash, with the Akhila Bharata Ayyappa Deeksha Prachara Samithi objecting to certain scenes they felt misrepresented Guruswamis and hurt religious sentiments — a debate that continued even after the film’s theatrical run ended.
