The Batman Part II: First Teaser Breakdown — And Why the Wait Just Got Longer

Robert Pattinson is back in the cape and cowl — but so is the bad news. Here’s everything the first teaser for The Batman: Part II just revealed.

The Batman Part II delay: pushed to February 2028

Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel has been delayed again, moving from October 2027 to February 18, 2028 — nearly six years after 2022’s The Batman. To soften the blow, director Matt Reeves released a brief camera-test teaser showing Pattinson back in the suit.

What the teaser actually shows

The roughly 30-second clip shows Pattinson’s Batman standing in falling snow before turning to fix a hard stare into the camera — confirming Reeves’ earlier hints about a winter-set Gotham. Sharp-eyed fans also noticed the cowl’s ears appear noticeably longer than in the first film; Reeves confirmed on X that fans weren’t imagining it, fueling speculation about some kind of transformation for the character.

Who are the new villains?

Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed roles for the new cast, but fan theories point to Scarlett Johansson as Poison Ivy, Sebastian Stan as Victor Zsasz, and Charles Dance possibly tied to the Court of Owls — a shadowy organization from the comics. There’s also speculation the film could tease Two-Face/Harvey Dent, continuing the series’ interest in Gotham’s corrupt history.

Why it’s been delayed so many times

The sequel has faced repeated setbacks — first the 2023 WGA strike, then extended script development as Reeves worked to get the story right. Colin Farrell, who plays Oz Cobb, has read the script and called it “a work of contemporary genre brilliance.”
