“The Affair Was Just the Beginning” Trailers Prove Everyone’s Hiding Something

Just when you thought K-drama like ‘The Affair Was Just the Beginning’ neighbors couldn’t get messier, this new black comedy raises the stakes with two families, one shared secret, and a whole lot of scheming smiles.

What’s the Show About

“The Affair Was Just the Beginning” follows an influencer couple who has built an image of a perfect family online, and their next-door neighbors — a doctor couple going through a bitter divorce. When an overwhelming shared secret pulls both households together, things spiral fast enough to make an actual affair look minor by comparison. The genre leans firmly into black comedy, using dark humor to unpack betrayal, image-obsession, and suburban secrets.

Meet the Tangled Cast

Kim Hye Soo plays Park Kyung Hee, a self-made interior design influencer with a million subscribers and a picture-perfect life — until unsettling rumors about her husband start unraveling everything she’s built. Kim Ji Hun plays her younger husband Lim Jae Hong, who comes off charming and devoted on the surface but hints at secrets he’s desperate to keep from his wife.

Next door, Cho Yeo Jeong plays dermatologist Ahn Soo Jung, who insists she barely knows the new neighbors while clearly guarding something of her own. Kim Jae Chul plays her soon-to-be ex-husband Joo Bo Sung, who seems a little too interested in getting close to Kyung Hee professionally. Rounding out the cast, the two couples’ daughters — Ye Ji and Min Seo — appear in strikingly different character posters that hint at very different inner worlds.

Why It’s Worth Watching

With sharp character trailers already hinting at hidden agendas on every side, this drama seems built to keep viewers guessing about who’s playing whom. The mix of comedy and slow-burn suspense could make it one of the more talked-about premieres this season.
