Three sisters. One dead body. Countless lies. Netflix’s newest Spanish-language miniseries That Night (Esa Noche) dropped globally on March 13, 2026 — and it’s far smarter and more emotionally layered than its elevator pitch suggests. Here’s everything you need to know before you press play.

What Is That Night About?

The series follows three sisters — Elena, Paula, and Cris — who reunite on vacation in Punta Cana. When Elena calls her siblings to the beach in a panic, they discover a dead man who may have been run over by her. Paula quickly hatches a cover plan that makes all three accomplices — but as none of them are criminal masterminds, their web of lies rapidly begins to unravel.

Crucially, the very first scene reveals the sisters’ arrest for murder — so the question driving the series isn’t “will they get away with it?” but “why did it happen at all?” That shift in dramatic focus is exactly what elevates That Night above a standard whodunit.

What Works — and What Doesn’t

The Good: The show mostly avoids far-fetched thriller twists and instead focuses on the unraveling of a fragile sisterhood — delving into a finely tuned psychological portrait of each sister. The actual traumatic family history is teased out better than the plot twists, and it delivers a more emotional payoff. The three leads develop strong chemistry, and the series’ latter half hooks the viewer with its family drama, examining generational guilt, grief, and personal pain with genuine sensitivity.

The Caveat: By the first half of the miniseries, viewers will have figured out the basic plot of what really happened that night — meaning those seeking edge-of-your-seat suspense may feel slightly underwhelmed early on.

The psychological thriller genre rarely lands this gracefully in six episodes — That Night is proof that less is more.

Who Should Watch It?

If you enjoyed El Silencio, Stay Close, or Mentiras — this is a perfect weekend watch. It’s tense without being exhausting and emotionally resonant without being melodramatic.

Verdict: Stream it — especially if you’re in the mood for character-driven drama wrapped in a crime mystery bow.
