Thalapathy’s Final Bow: Jana Nayagan Crosses Rs 215 Crore, Curtain Call Approaching

Vijay’s swan song at the box office is proving it still has legs. Jana Nayagan, the actor’s last-ever film, added Rs 36.75 crore in its second week — an 80% drop from Week 1, but still enough to push the total to Rs 215.50 crore gross in India within 14 days.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama gets one more clear weekend with no major new release to fight for screens. Trade estimates now peg the film’s final domestic tally at around Rs 225 crore, with its worldwide theatrical run expected to close near Rs 335 crore gross.

Jana Nayagan: Day-by-Day Breakdown (Week 2)

The Bigger Picture

What makes these numbers notable isn’t just the total — it’s the context. The film faced a leak and heavy piracy ahead of release, plus a fairly mixed audience response. Under normal circumstances, that combination sinks a film’s prospects fast. Instead, Jana Nayagan has held on to cross the Rs 200 crore mark comfortably, a testament to the pull of Vijay as one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars taking his final bow.

For a movie many predicted would struggle to clear even Rs 50-100 crore after the leak fallout, this is a strong finish to a landmark career chapter.
