Thalapathy Vijay Becomes ‘C Joseph Vijay’ — The Day a Superstar Stepped Into a Whole New Arena

There are moments in Indian entertainment that go beyond cinema — and May 10, 2026 was exactly one of those days for millions of Thalapathy Vijay fans across Tamil Nadu and beyond.

What Happened at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium?

Vijay made a powerful appearance at a grand event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on May 10, 2026, where he addressed the massive gathering as “C Joseph Vijay,” drawing loud cheers from the crowd. The moment immediately sent the internet into a frenzy, with videos from the event going viral within minutes of being posted online.

Several close family members, including his parents and cousins, were present at the ceremony, and actor Trisha Krishnan was also spotted at the high-profile event. Seeing Trisha — one of Tamil cinema’s most beloved stars — show up in solidarity only added to the emotional weight of the occasion.

The use of his birth name C Joseph Vijay is deeply significant. In Tamil Nadu politics, public figures deliberately using their legal names at formal gatherings signals a serious, grounded identity — a clear statement that this is no longer just a film star moment.

What About Jana Nayagan — His Final Film?

Thalapathy Vijay is next expected to star in the action drama Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth. The film follows the story of Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former police officer and convict who adopts a young girl and raises her to be strong and independent, even encouraging her to join the military despite her fear of violence.

The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, and Sunil in key roles, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Initially slated for January 9, 2026, the film missed its release date due to the unavailability of a censor certificate, and even after reportedly being leaked online, the makers are still expected to release it soon. Jana Nayagan is widely rumoured to be Vijay’s last film before he pivots his focus fully — though no official confirmation has come from his team.
