AMD and Tata Consultancy Services announced on February 16, 2026, an expanded strategic collaboration bringing AMD’s “Helios” rack-scale AI architecture to India through a 200MW deployment supporting the nation’s AI initiatives and sovereign AI factories. TCS, through its subsidiary HyperVault AI Data Center Limited, will co-develop the infrastructure based on the Helios platform unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, marking AMD’s first Helios-powered AI infrastructure deployment in India.

This collaboration provides the physical infrastructure required to move India from AI experimentation to sovereign, population-scale deployments.

At the heart of Helios is a high-performance stack engineered for trillion-parameter model training and high-volume inference. A single Helios rack delivers up to 2.9 exaflops of FP4 performance, providing a legitimate open-standard alternative to proprietary GPU ecosystems while optimizing entire server cabinets as single units to deliver massive compute density and energy efficiency.

The 200MW Infrastructure Vision

The 200 megawatt figure represents a massive power envelope—enough to run several large-scale “AI factories” simultaneously. By establishing this capacity through HyperVault, established in 2025 with vision for GW-scale infrastructure, the partnership ensures Indian enterprises, startups, and government bodies have access to locally-hosted, high-performance compute without relying on overseas data centers.

According to Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, “AI adoption is accelerating from pilots to large-scale deployments, and that shift requires a new blueprint for compute infrastructure. With ‘Helios,’ we are delivering an open, rack-scale AI platform designed for performance, efficiency, and long-term flexibility.”

Sovereign AI Factory Support

K. Krithivasan, MD and CEO of TCS, emphasized the strategic importance: “This collaboration lays the foundation for AMD’s first ‘Helios’ powered AI infrastructure in India. By combining our strengths in AI, connectivity, sustainable power, and advanced data center engineering, we are poised to deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure solutions for AI companies and global enterprises.”

The platform targets hyperscalers, AI companies, and enterprise customers seeking faster, localized AI build-outs while reducing reliance on closed hardware-software ecosystems. Both companies will work with global hyperscale builders and system integrators to accelerate data center construction and Helios adoption nationwide.

While discussions at the India AI Impact Summit focused on ethics, democratizing resources, and trusted AI frameworks, AMD and TCS provide the actual hardware infrastructure supporting policy goals. The Helios platform will run India’s future digital public goods—from multilingual services like Bhashini to advanced healthcare analytics—ensuring AI boom benefits remain anchored within the country.
