Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul opened the innings. KL Rahul returned to the pavilion scoring only 5, dismissed by Cris Woakes. Rohit Sharma did hit some boundaries but he too for dismissed at 27. Even, India’s trusted batter Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t make an impression in today’s game and got dismissed at 14. Hopes were alive once again with Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya’s partnership. Both of them smashing half-centuries. Pandya smashed fours and sixes that took India to 168/8. The bowling department of the team failed miserably today. They couldn’t scalp a single wicket and leaked a lot of runs. England completed its target by 170 runs. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales smoothly covered the target given by India. Buttler finished off at 80 from 49 deliveries and Hales finished at 86 off 47.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma believes that India’s batting was on point but the second innings with the ball was not up to the mark.

“I thought we still batted pretty well at the back end to get to that score, but we were not good enough with the ball. It was definitely not a wicket where a team can come and chase it down in 16 overs.” he said.
