The Sydney Sweeney Story — What Happened?
Sweeney filmed a roughly three-minute scene near the top of the movie in which she played herself, being dressed for an event by Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton. According to sources, the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence, and the team found the decision to remove it a difficult one. Variety

Sweeney was set to approach Blunt’s character — who now works as the head of Dior’s US operations — as a celebrity client being styled ahead of an event. NME The scene was first reported by Entertainment Weekly and described simply as “a creative decision.”
Sweeney isn’t exactly crying into her Prada though — she is currently starring in the new season of Euphoria alongside Zendaya and Jacob Elordi on HBO Max.
She Wasn’t the Only Cut
Also trimmed from the finished film is How to Get Away With Murder actor Conrad Ricamora, who had been cast as Andy’s roommate. Sources say the character didn’t survive test screenings — audiences kept questioning why Andy needed a roommate at all. The final film instead leans into her spending time at Tracie Thoms’ character’s place, a dynamic that plays more realistic to the 2006 original. Meanwhile, one cameo that never happened at all was Jessica Chastain’s. Variety
Who Is In the Film?
The sequel is loaded with fashion and entertainment world cameos. Lady Gaga makes an appearance and recorded a Doechii-assisted track called “Runway” for the film’s soundtrack. Donatella Versace filmed a scene in Milan, and supermodel Naomi Campbell appears seated next to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly at the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 show — shot live during Milan Fashion Week. Variety
The main cast reunites Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling, with new additions including Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom, Pauline Chalamet, and Kenneth Branagh. Gold Derby

The Anna Wintour Situation
The real-life Vogue icon visited the sequel’s Milan set, where director David Frankel captured her in what he called a “gag take” for a bonus streaming feature — though Wintour got ahead of her cue, leaving the shot partially out of focus. “I can’t ask Anna to do take two,” Frankel admitted. Variety Her real contribution? Overhauling the flower arrangements in the fictional Dior offices — declaring there were too many, and too pink.
