Sometimes the film that lands in your lap isn’t the one you expected — it’s the one that was always meant for you. At the pre-release event of Vishwanath & Sons, Suriya opened up about how his collaboration with director Venky Atluri almost took a completely different shape. The actor revealed that after their earlier film Lucky Baskhar, he was ready to say yes to anything Venky brought him next — he’d quietly been hoping for a reunion.
From A Biopic To A Love Story
Producer Naga Vamsi had reportedly locked Venky’s dates first, and at that point, the director actually had a biopic in mind for Suriya. But the project hit a wall — rights issues meant it never made it to the floors.
That’s when the story shifted. Suriya reportedly told Venky it had been over a decade since he’d done a light, cute love story or family entertainer — after intense films like Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, he wanted something breezier. Having already done two biopics recently, he felt it was time to move on. That conversation eventually gave shape to Vishwanath & Sons.
