Sunday Blackout: Inkigayo, Running Man & More Korean Shows Skip Today’s Broadcast

If your Sunday K-content lineup feels a little empty today, you’re not imagining it. A wave of major Korean TV programs — from music shows to variety staples — are sitting out today’s schedule, and there’s one big reason behind it: the Asian Games.

What’s Not Airing Today for Inkigayo?

Why the Sudden Programming Shake-Up?

The culprit is straightforward: ongoing broadcast coverage of the Asian Games has taken priority across both SBS and KBS’s Sunday schedules. This isn’t unusual — major international sporting events routinely reshuffle Korean broadcasters’ regular programming, especially on networks carrying live coverage, since sports rights and scheduling commitments take precedence over weekly entertainment slots.

A Rough Weekend for KBS Dramas Specifically

Interestingly, this isn’t a one-day disruption for A Love Other Than Yours and Love on the Menu — both dramas already missed their Saturday episodes for the same reason, meaning fans are now looking at a full weekend without new content. For ongoing dramas mid-run, back-to-back skipped episodes can affect pacing and viewer momentum, so it’ll be worth watching how quickly these shows bounce back once regular programming resumes.

What This Means for Fans?

The good news: none of these are cancellations, just temporary scheduling breaks. Running Man and Love on the Menu are both available to catch up on via Viki in the meantime, so fans looking to fill the gap have plenty of past episodes to binge while waiting for the regular Sunday lineup to return.
