Stephen Curry passes Reggie Miller for second-most three-pointers in NBA history

It was known well before he started breaking records and winning championships, that Stephen Curry is the greatest three-point shooter in league history. The megastar hit his 2,561st three-point shot in a game against the Utah Jazz, passing Reggie Miller for the second-most in NBA history.

Miller never averaged more than 6.6 3-pointer attempts in a game in a single season. Currently, Curry is in the process of topping that for the 9th straight season in the 2014-15 playoffs alone, he made 98 3-pointers, which is exactly as much as Miller made in his entire 2nd NBA season.

Ray Allen is the next in line for Curry in the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-point shots. Allen made 2973 3 pointers, putting him more than 400 3s ahead of Curry. Currey should expect to pass him at some point next season, at his career pace of 3.6 3s per game.

Miller offered Curry his congratulations in a visit during the post game video call with reporters “You are an inspiration to so many little one’s like mine,” said Miller while holding his son, Ryker, who was wearing a Curry jersey.

“It’s special,” said Curry. “I was trying to enjoy it in the middle of the game because I knew that it was on the horizon and I knew how much I looked up to him growing up, watching him play, playing against my dad. Emulating a lot of things he did moving without the ball. I always said, him and Steve Nash, I always tried to put those two players together…”
