The Woman Who Raised Star Kids: Inside Lalita D’Silva’s Journey From Nurse to Bollywood’s Most Trusted Nanny

She’s the quiet force behind some of India’s most photographed toddlers — Ram Charan’s daughter Klin Kaara, and Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s sons Taimur and Jeh. No spotlight-chasing, no scandals. Just three decades of showing up for other people’s kids like they were her own.

From Hospital Wards to Ambani Nurseries

D’Silva started out as a pediatric nurse at a private Mumbai hospital before pivoting to private childcare — a career shift that would eventually put her inside some of the country’s most guarded homes.

Her big break came in 1996, when the Ambani family brought her on to care for young Anant Ambani. She stayed for nearly 11-12 years, and the bond never really faded — she still posts birthday tributes to him online.

Lalita D’Silva: A Trusted Name Across Generations

After the Ambanis, D’Silva became the go-to nanny for Taimur and Jeh, and later for Klin Kaara Konidela. In an interview, she described the Konidela household warmly, noting that Upasana steps in whenever she needs rest — calling them genuinely “hands-on parents.”

Setting the Record Straight on Her Pay

Rumors pegged her monthly earnings at Rs 1.5-2.5 lakh. D’Silva shut that down, calling the numbers inflated — while admitting she does charge a premium, given the round-the-clock demands and near-zero holidays the job requires.

Today, she’s flipped the script entirely: instead of just caregiving, she runs her own agency, training and placing caregivers for other high-net-worth families.
