From The Vault: Amit Trivedi Finally Lets His Unheard Music Out to Play

Every composer has a drawer full of songs that never made it out — melodies too good to delete, too personal to shelve forever. Amit Trivedi just decided to stop sitting on his. The National Award-winning composer has announced “Unsung Unreleased,” an EP built entirely from compositions that stayed hidden in his notebooks and hard drives for years, finally getting their moment in the sun.

Amit Trivedi Story

Why These Songs Stayed Hidden for So Long

Announcing the project on social media, Trivedi wrote that these are songs that “stayed with me, waiting for their time to be heard.” In his own words, the EP is deeply personal: “Every composer has music that remains unheard — not because it isn’t good enough, but because circumstances change. I always felt these songs deserved their moment.”

It’s a refreshingly honest admission from an industry where unused tracks usually vanish quietly rather than get a second life.

A Label Built for Creative Freedom

“Unsung Unreleased” isn’t a one-off — it’s the latest release from AT Azaad, the independent label Trivedi launched specifically to put out music without the constraints of film deadlines or box-office pressure. He described the label’s mission simply: giving music “complete creative freedom.” The first single “Chinaron Se” drops on AT Azaad’s YouTube channel on August 12, with the rest of the tracklist following at a steady two-week pace.

Trivedi began his career composing music for theatre productions, advertising jingles, and independent music projects before making his film debut with Aamir in 2008 — a background that makes this return to independent, non-film music feel like coming full circle.
