Song Kang and Lee Jun Young Play Two Very Different Melodies in “Four Hands, Two Sonatas”

A new drama about music, rivalry, and growing up is set to hit screens, and its first character pamphlet already tells you everything about its two leads. “Four Hands, Two Sonatas” has released an “invitation pamphlet” spotlighting Song Kang and Lee Jun Young as two pianists whose contrasting styles promise real dramatic tension.

The title borrows its name from a real piano term — read more about the “four hands” piano tradition on Wikipedia. For more upcoming K-drama previews, check out TechnoSports entertainment coverage.

Four Hands, Two Sonatas: Overview

Two Pianists, Two Completely Different Approaches

The title itself refers to two people playing a single piano together, and the drama leans fully into that duality. Kang Pio, played by Song Kang, is introduced as a meticulous perfectionist — closely tracking his sheet music, maintaining eye contact with the conductor, and chasing flawless precision in every performance. His hashtags in the pamphlet reflect that discipline: Elite, Perfectionist, Precise Performance.

Choi Jeong Yo, played by Lee Jun Young, couldn’t be more different. Despite growing up in a difficult family environment, he channels raw emotion into his playing, appearing to lose himself completely in the music rather than chasing technical perfection. His hashtags — Rising Star, Free Spirited, Rugged Charm — paint the picture of a talent driven by instinct rather than rigor.

A Friendship Built on Contrast

The pamphlet’s tagline, “We invite you to a world of beautiful melodies,” hints at the emotional core of the series: tracing Kang Pio and Choi Jeong Yo’s friendship, rivalry, and growth from teenage classmates at an arts high school into adult professional pianists. Their opposing musical philosophies set up an intriguing question — how will two such different artistic souls find harmony when they eventually share a stage?

Where to Watch Before the Premiere
