Sohail Khan Is Done Being “Salman’s Brother” — And Alliance Is His Way Out

Being related to one of Bollywood’s biggest stars comes with obvious perks. It also comes with a shadow that’s hard to step out of. Sohail Khan is now ready to do exactly that, entering reality TV for the very first time as a wildcard contestant on Alliance, hosted by Kunal Kemmu.

Why Sohail Khan Said Yes?

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sohail explained that the show strips away every advantage he’s used to — no family name, no industry clout, just his own mind and gameplay. He said if people walk away seeing an unexpected side of him, that’s exactly the point.

Why He Avoided Bigg Boss For Years

Having watched Salman host Bigg Boss for over a decade, Sohail admitted he always saw that world as built on personality clashes, conflict, and heavy emotional drama — territory he considered strictly his brother’s, not his own. Alliance, he said, felt fundamentally different: a mind game built on strategy and outwitting opponents quietly, which appealed to him in ways nothing else had.

Salman’s Reaction Says It All

When Sohail broke the news to Salman, the reaction was equal parts intrigue and protectiveness. Salman reportedly asked, “You sure you know what you’re getting into?” — a line Sohail took as both a warning and a blessing.

Reality competition formats like Alliance continue thriving globally by testing contestants’ social strategy over physical skill, a format lineage that traces back to shows in the broader reality television genre, which has long rewarded psychological gameplay as much as raw charisma.
