Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal: The Future of Indian Cricket?

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal A Classy Duo!

The next generation of Indian cricket heroes might already be here—and their names are Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Imagine the year 2013, when a young Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli began creating ripples on the global stage. Fast-forward twelve years, and former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes Gill and Jaiswal are walking that same exciting road to stardom.

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal : The Rohit-Virat Parallel

It wasn’t too long ago that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rose to become household names. Today, they’re established legends. Bangar sees distinct similarities in how Jaiswal and Gill have caught the public’s eye—just as Rohit and Virat did in the early 2010s. “They’ve both had remarkable starts in international cricket,” Bangar said, confidently adding that they may be the trendsetters for this new generation.

A Shared Spotlight

While Shubman Gill had a head start in white-ball cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal soon burst onto the scene by piling up big Test hundreds. Before India faced Australia, Sanjay Manjrekar saw Gill as the outright front-runner for the title of India’s future star. But Jaiswal’s performances brought him level in that race for greatness. Manjrekar explains: “He’s not just content with a single century; he’s going for big ones. He plays late, uses the back foot well, and can adapt even on foreign pitches.”

Shubman Gill’s White-Ball Edge

On the other hand, Gill has already made waves in white-ball cricket. Comfortably pulling and driving the ball with finesse, he often puts up spectacular knocks in ODIs and T20Is. According to Manjrekar, “Shubman Gill will continue dominating in white-ball cricket. We haven’t seen Yashasvi dominate outside Tests yet, but that world is there for him to capture.” Essentially, Gill and Jaiswal share the same big stage—yet each occupies a slightly different spotlight.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Unrelenting Hunger

So, what makes Jaiswal special? In the words of Bangar, “His temperament is solid. He’ll be one of India’s biggest run-scorers.” Even beyond his extraordinary start, people familiar with Jaiswal’s game notice he’s always striving for more—whether it’s converting a quick hundred into a towering double-century or grinding through difficult pitches. That willingness to play both aggressively and defensively, if required, is what sets him apart.

Mentors and Motivation

It’s not just individual ambition pushing Gill and Jaiswal to excel. The examples set by Kohli and Sharma linger. Both youngsters know they have enormous shoes to fill, and it drives them to evolve with each match they play. That sense of growth is one reason why watchers of the game believe the future of Indian cricket has never looked brighter.

Battle of the Future

Will one outshine the other, or will they dance in the limelight together like Kohli and Sharma? Cricket fans remain eager to see. For now, we’re witnessing the early chapters of a journey that could define the next decade of Indian cricket. And in the midst of the hype, both Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal look equally determined to reach the summit.
