Shocking stats from Manchester United’s 4-0 loss to Brighton you need to know

Manchester United’s loss to Brighton at the Amex Stadium was one of their worst defeats of all-time, despite the scoreline reading 4-0. Ralf Rangnick’s side will not be playing Champions League football next year, as they are mathematically unable to finish in the top four.

In the aftermath of their defeat, several interesting stats have come to the forefront. For Brighton fans, or those unaware, this might be a huge surprise. And for the Manchester United faithful, this will be a tough pill to swallow after the disappointing season that they have had to endure.

Must-know stats from Manchester United’s 4-0 loss to Brighton

Here are the stats from the shocker at the Amex Stadium:

  • 2.2% of Brighton’s total Premier League goals ever came in the opening hour of their 4-0 victory.
  • This will be Manchester United’s lowest point tally ever, after finishing with 64 points under David Moyes in 13/14. The maximum total possible now is 61.
  • No side has ever conceded four goals to Watford and Brighton in the same season.
  • This is only the second time in 188 Premier League games that Brighton have been able to score four or more goals.
  • In the Premier League era, this season is Manchester United’s worst defensive performance. They have shipped 56 goals so far, more than that in 18/19.
  • Prior to this game, Brighton had the 18th-worst home record in the Premier League, with three wins from 17 at the AMEX. They’d won just one of their previous 14 home league outings.
  • This is Brighton’s first win against Manchester United in the post-war period.
