From Group Stage to Final: Team India’s Dominant Run in the Womens AsiaCup Continues With a Statement Victory

India’s women in blue continued their remarkable dominance in T20 cricket’s biggest continental event, cruising into their sixth consecutive Women’s Asia Cup final after a commanding 40-run victory over Bangladesh in Dubai. It was a night defined by one player’s fearless hitting and India’s collective bowling discipline.

TeamIndia Match Summary

Shafali Verma Steals the Show

The standout performance of the night came from Shafali Verma, whose blistering 64 off just 40 balls anchored India’s innings on an otherwise sluggish pitch. What made the knock even more remarkable was how many lives she was given — Shafali survived reprieves on 6, 11, 50, and 56, and made Bangladesh pay dearly for each dropped chance. Her aggressive intent was clear early, launching back-to-back sixes over long-off against Sultana Khatun, helping India race to 45 for 1 by the end of the powerplay.

The Middle Order Struggles, Then Steadies

After that explosive start, India’s innings hit a rough patch. Pratika Rawal managed just 20 off 24 balls, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur endured a similarly slow period, once stuck on 3 off 15 balls before finishing with 24 off 28. The team managed only 33 runs across seven overs following the powerplay — a period that could have derailed the innings entirely.

That’s where Deepti Sharma’s late cameo proved crucial. Her explosive 13 off just six deliveries in the closing stages provided exactly the acceleration India needed, helping the side post a competitive 149 for 6.

Bangladesh’s Chase Falls Apart Under Pressure

Chasing 150, Bangladesh’s openers Juairiya Ferdous and Dilara Akter started with genuine intent, but once India introduced spin, the innings lost momentum quickly. Shree Charani struck first, removing Ferdous, before Deepti Sharma dismissed Dilara Akter to leave Bangladesh reeling early.

Despite a fighting effort from Shorna Akter, who remained unbeaten on 22, and useful contributions lower down the order, Bangladesh could only muster 109 for 7 in their 20 overs — falling well short as India’s spin-heavy attack, led by Deepti Sharma’s three-wicket haul, kept wickets tumbling at regular intervals.

A Streak Worth Celebrating

This win extends India’s extraordinary consistency in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup — reaching the final in all six editions of the tournament held so far. That kind of sustained dominance places India firmly among the most successful teams in the competition’s history, a tournament that has grown significantly in stature since its inception as part of the broader Asia Cup cricket framework governed by the Asian Cricket Council.

With this semifinal win secured, India now awaits the winner of the second semifinal between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, setting up what promises to be a high-stakes final on Sunday.
