Sergio Aguero could return to competitive football in latest update

Sergio Aguero could make a sensational return to football, as per the latest revelation from the Argentine icon. The striker had to retire prematurely from the sport after suffering from cardiac arrhythmia shortly after signing for Barcelona from Manchester City as a free agent.

Since then, he has made his way into media, amassing a following of 4 million on Twitch and also appearing as a pundit. The former Argentina striker was also seen celebrating with the national team when they won the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, as his heart is still very much with the sport.

Sergio Aguero could make a sensational return to football if doctors clear him

“People are asking me and well, I don’t know… What do you think?” he said. “How am I doing for 20 minutes of action? I don’t know if it’s 20, but ten?” Aguero asked his doctor during the stream.

“Logically, we have to do the studies, which already correspond, and make you run as if it were a game… When you approach the two centre backs, if you have to do a trick, something like that, you have to be well prepared, the doctor said, per talkSPORT.

As things stand, the 35-year-old could be cleared for around twenty minutes of professional football soon. On the other hand, a full return to competitive football could be on the cards if he can reach his peak physical state.

But, considering he has been out of the professional standard for a while, it would take a lot of effort and carefulness on his part to ensure that his health is prioritised.

  1. Which team will he train with?

    Independiente in Argentina.
