Sometimes the biggest reveals in a superhero movie aren’t the ones on the poster. They’re tucked into a corner of the frame, waiting for a sharp-eyed fan.
That is exactly what happened with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. According to The Direct, the film quietly confirms that one of Spider-Man’s least-loved villains exists in the MCU.

Where the Easter Egg Hides?
When Peter Parker meets Ned Leeds again at his party, Ned’s apartment has a huge crime board on the wall. It is packed with criminals, police reports and news clippings.
Ned built it to work out who Spider-Man is, after Doctor Strange’s spell made the world forget Peter. It is a smart bit of storytelling, because the board doubles as a scrapbook of the city’s chaos.
In the bottom-left corner sits a printout of a social media profile. The user is Screwball, an aspiring streamer aiming for 3 million followers, though nobody follows her yet. The find was shared on X by user @WilliamD1123.

Who Is Screwball?
Think of her as the villain for the influencer age. Screwball is billed as the first live-streaming supervillain, someone who films her crimes and fights to go viral in New York.
She became better known through Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018, where she lures Spider-Man into staged crimes to get herself on camera.
Why Fans Struggle With Her
Her loud, over-the-top personality is exactly what turns many fans off, and some call her one of Marvel’s most annoying villains. That is a big part of why this cameo is so funny. Marvel picked a divisive character for its Easter egg, and people are noticing.
Could Screwball Return in a Bigger Role?
Maybe, but there are no signs yet. By the end of Brand New Day, the public supports Spider-Man after he saves and redeems Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey, the film’s main villain.
The post-credits scene seems to tease the multiverse, whether that means Avengers: Secret Wars or the wider Spider-Verse. With so much left open, a fifth solo film could have room for a supporting or even lead villain like her.
The comic-book side of the Spider-Man universe is huge, so Marvel has plenty of options.
