SC East Bengal 1-1 Jamshedpur FC: Points shared after remarkable Perosevic debut

SC East Bengal and Jamshedpur FC began their 21/22 ISL campaign by sharing a point each after 90 minutes. An intense fixture at the Tilak Maidan Stadium saw the scoreline read 1-1 with both teams unable to find the winner.

The Red and Gold outfit achieved the breakthrough first, with an own goal from Jamshedpur’s Nerijus Valskis. Franjo Prce managed to hit an overhead volley towards goal, but the ball took a deflection and the final touch came off of Valskis who knocked it into his own net off the goalline.

Valskis would make amends for his own goal right before half time, supplying Peter Hartley in the final stages of the initial half to level things up.

Antonio Perosevic started in his debut for SC East Bengal, and the former Croatia international was the creative spark for his team throughout the game. He deservingly took the Hero of the Match award, and was also responsible for playing in Prce to get the own goal.

Both managers will be disappointed to not have gotten the win, since a number of chances were created throughout the game. But, they have laid down the foundation for a strong season ahead.

Jamshedpur will take on FC Goa in their next match in the ISL. SC East Bengal, on the other hand, turn their attention to the first Kolkata derby of the season against ATK Mohun Bagan next Saturday.
