Satwik-Chirag Create History With Maiden China Masters Title

India’s premier badminton doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, have scripted history by winning their first-ever China Masters title — a landmark no Indian pair had achieved before.

A Hard-Fought Victory in Shenzhen

The Asian Games gold medallists defeated China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a gruelling final at the Shenzhen Arena, according to the official BWF World Tour standings. It marked their second Super 750 title of the season, following an early setback in the opening game against a fired-up home crowd.

Third Time’s the Charm

This was Satwik-Chirag’s third China Masters final appearance, after finishing runners-up in both 2023 and 2025. Trailing 16-17 late in the decisive third game, the Indian duo produced a stunning five-point streak to close out the match in just over an hour.

Building Momentum Ahead of Asian Games

The win adds to a strong 2026 campaign that already includes a Singapore Open title earlier in May. With the pair currently ranked fifth in the world, this victory arrives at the perfect time as they prepare to defend their Asian Games doubles gold later this month.
