Tanvi Sharma wins Super 300 Title at Taipei Open!

Some stars announce themselves quietly. Tanvi Sharma just did it with a straight-games demolition. The 17-year-old claimed her maiden BWF World Tour Super 300 title at the Taipei Open, becoming the youngest champion in the tournament’s history and ending India’s 17-year wait for the women’s singles crown.

A Dominant Final

Tanvi swept past Vietnam’s sixth seed Nguyen Thuy Linh 21-16, 21-16 in Sunday’s final, wrapping up the summit clash in just 36 minutes. She raced to a 10-2 lead in the opener before closing it out at 21-16, then recovered from an early 0-3 deficit in the second game, eventually sealing victory with a brilliant cross-court drop shot.

Joining Elite Company

With this win, Tanvi becomes only the fourth Indian women’s singles shuttler to claim a Super 300-or-higher title, joining Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Devika Sihag. She’s also now the third-youngest player in the world to win a BWF Super 300 event — a remarkable achievement for a teenager still finding her feet on the senior circuit.

In Her Own Words

Reflecting on the win, Tanvi said she felt nervous but focused on giving her best in every match, taking the tournament step by step. Full tournament results and rankings are available on the official BWF website.
