Samsung XR Headset specifications leaked Online

Samsung stated at the Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2023 that it is collaborating with Google and Qualcomm on a new Samsung XR headset. TM Roh, President & Head of MX Division at Samsung, stated that the XR headset will be released soon. After Apple debuted the Vision Pro headset, it was also rumoured that Samsung cancelled the initial prototype it was working on and began creating a new XR headset.

Images and details for Samsung’s reportedly cancelled XR headset have now emerged. Vrtuoluo, a Chinese website, has published photographs of an XR headset that it claims is a prototype of Samsung’s future XR headset.

According to these photographs, the Samsung XR headset appears to follow the same design concept as the Galaxy VR, with a few exceptions. To begin, there are four cameras on the front panel, one in each corner. In addition, two RGB cameras for colour passthrough and a depth sensor for detecting the environment and hand movements are included.

The Samsung XR headset, according to the journal, contains OLED panels, and the company has used pancake lenses for these screens to keep the visor’s thickness to a minimum.

According to reports, the Samsung XR headset lacks a portable controller.

Instead, the headgear, like the Apple Vision Pro, uses eye and hand tracking to allow users to control it. The publication also claims that it employs an Exynos 2200 SoC rather than the Qualcomm XR chipset that everyone expected. As a result, it is almost certain that it is an older prototype that Samsung was working on.

While the Samsung XR headset does not appear to have as great hardware as the Apple Vision Pro, it is projected to cost between $1,000 and $2,000. According to recent sources, Samsung has delayed the release of the XR headset until 2024 to reexamine the product and make it a better competitor to the Apple Vision Pro, so the newer product might be more premium with a price tag to match.
