Samsung Display just used one trade show floor to show off everything from a phone-sized display for robots to the world’s fastest laptop screen. At IMID 2026 in Busan, the company unveiled six distinct display technologies spanning gaming, foldables, and futuristic AI hardware — and one of them is a genuine world first.

The Full Lineup

20″ Wide Stretchable DisplayWorld’s largest stretchable OLED, tiling two panels into one
6.9″ Humanoid DisplayEye-tracking, built for robotics interfaces
Wide View Foldable OLEDFixes brightness loss around the fold crease
31.5″ QD-OLED Gaming Monitor4K resolution at 360Hz — a first for monitor panels
34″ Ultrawide QD-OLED21:9 aspect ratio at 360Hz
16″ Laptop OLEDWorld’s first 300Hz OLED laptop panel

World’s First 300Hz OLED Laptop Panel

The standout reveal is a 16-inch, 2.5K OLED panel hitting 300Hz — breaking the 240Hz ceiling that’s held laptop OLED displays back until now. Samsung hasn’t disclosed peak brightness figures yet, but the panel is expected to carry HDR support and OLED’s usual strengths: infinite contrast, true blacks, and pixel-level lighting control. No word yet on which laptop makers will use it or when — these things typically take a full product cycle to reach retail machines, likely landing first in flagship gaming laptops from brands like ASUS, Lenovo, or Razer.

Fixing Foldables’ Biggest Weak Spot

The Wide View Display, a 7.6-inch foldable OLED, tackles a problem every foldable owner knows well: the curved area around the crease looking noticeably dimmer than the rest of the screen. Samsung says current foldable panels lose roughly 60% of side brightness around the crease compared to flat sections. The Wide View Display uses a redesigned organic emissive layer to keep brightness consistent across the curved region — a fix that could meaningfully improve everyday viewing on future foldables.

Gaming Monitors Push Past 4K at 360Hz

Samsung also showed two QD-OLED panels aimed squarely at competitive gaming: a 31.5-inch 4K panel at 360Hz — which Samsung’s newsroom describes as an industry first for that resolution-refresh combination — and a 34-inch 21:9 ultrawide, also running at 360Hz. Both point toward the next wave of high-end gaming monitors expected to reach the market over the coming product cycle. For the official rundown of Samsung Display’s IMID showcase, Samsung’s newsroom is the best source for further technical details as they’re released.

The Concept Displays: A Look Further Out

Beyond near-term products, Samsung’s booth leaned into genuinely experimental territory — a 20-inch stretchable display built by tiling two panels together (aimed at automotive cockpits, humanoids, and digital signage), a 6.9-inch eye-tracking humanoid display designed for robotics, a necklace-style AI OLED pendant, and even an OLED-equipped turntable. None of these have confirmed commercial timelines, but they signal where Samsung’s display R&D is headed beyond phones and monitors.

Why This Matters

Samsung Display presented 57 technical papers at IMID 2026 — the most of any exhibitor for the second consecutive year — and its Galaxy S26 Ultra panel took home the show’s Display of the Year award. Between the 300Hz laptop panel and the 360Hz gaming monitors, expect these technologies to start reaching consumer devices within the next product cycle.
