Samsung ISOCELL HPC: 200MP Sensor With DeepPix Tech Unveiled

Samsung just gave the smartphone camera world something to talk about — and for once, it’s not just about the megapixel count. The new ISOCELL HPC is a 200MP sensor built around DeepPix, a pixel architecture Samsung calls an industry first, aimed at fixing the one thing high-resolution sensors have always struggled with: light.

The Problem DeepPix Is Solving

Packing 200 million pixels onto a phone-sized sensor usually means shrinking each pixel down, which limits how much light it can capture — leading to blown-out highlights, noisy shadows, and messy HDR. Samsung’s fix uses Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) to expand both the photodiode and shared floating diffusion within each pixel, boosting Full Well Capacity by 60% over the previous generation. In plain terms: brighter highlights, richer shadows, and noticeably cleaner HDR shots.

Why Single-Frame HDR Is the Real Headline

Most phone cameras build HDR by stitching together multiple exposures, which can introduce ghosting or lag in motion-heavy scenes. The ISOCELL HPC instead captures the entire HDR range in a single frame, promising up to four times richer colour output than conventional multi-frame HDR — while keeping that quality consistent even when zoomed in digitally up to 4x. That’s a meaningful upgrade for anyone tired of zoomed-in shots looking noticeably worse than the main frame.

Full details, including Samsung’s own technical breakdown, are available on the official Samsung Semiconductor ISOCELL HPC page.

Video Gets a Serious Boost Too

Beyond stills, the sensor supports 8K recording at 30fps and 4K at up to 180fps for smoother slow-motion footage, alongside FHD recording at a blistering 360fps (without autofocus). Combined with Super QPD phase-detection autofocus, this sensor is clearly built for creators who shoot as much video as they do photos.

Which Phones Will Get It First?

Leaks suggest the ISOCELL HPC could debut on an upcoming Oppo flagship, potentially the Find X10 series, later this year — positioning it as a direct rival to Samsung’s own Galaxy S27 Ultra camera setup. Keep following our flagship smartphone launches section as more devices confirm this sensor.
