Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to Feature Thicker S Pen and Slimmer Design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one phone that has been discussed for quite some time, and recently, we’ve been hearing a lot about the S Pen too. Previously reported rumors indicated a decrease in primary S Pen functionality, but recent leaks have provided a much nicer update. Now, the leaker PandaFlashPro states that the South Korean giant has given the stylus a new look that looks thicker than the one that came with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It will also come with enhanced pen tips for a better writing experience.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Leak Reveals Thicker S Pen, Improved Hinge, and Slimmer Design Ahead of Expected July Launch

As such, the new S Pen for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely going to be more ergonomic and deliver a smoother input experience. Although specifics for the pen tips have not yet emerged, the upgrades show that at least for the foldable ecosystem, Samsung is working to make it better.

Moreover, leaks from earlier have indicated a particularly new hinge mechanism for the device, making it much slimmer than older models. When unfolded, the thickest point of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to just be 4.2 mm thick — much better than the 5.6 mm of its predecessor. Samsung’s custom UI for large screens is among the best, but viewing angles have long been a concern. It is likely the new hinge minimizes the ugly crease problem that had plagued Fold models prior.

Performance-wise too, the Z Fold 7 is said to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 4,400 mAh from the previous generation. The thinner design of the Special Edition was achieved by removing the S Pen digitizer, but this compromise appears to be temporary. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is confirmed to support the S Pen again, with production of the updated stylus set to begin in June. This aligns with a planned July launch for the device.
