Samsung Galaxy A17: 6.7″ Super AMOLED 90Hz Display Under $200

Samsung is preparing to redefine budget smartphone expectations with the Galaxy A17, featuring premium specs that rival devices costing twice as much. With a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, this ultra-budget device delivers smoothness that even Apple doesn’t offer below $1,000.

Galaxy A17: Complete Specifications Leaked

Based on exclusive renders and official marketing materials, here’s what Samsung’s latest budget champion offers:

Thinner, Lighter Design Philosophy

Samsung continues its obsession with being thinner, dropping the A17 to 7.5mm versus 7.99mm on the A16, while reducing weight from 200g to 192g. This makes the A17 one of the sleekest budget phones available.

Camera System Gets Major Upgrade

The triple-camera setup maintains the 50MP primary sensor, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro camera, but Samsung is adding OIS to the main camera – a rare feature in sub-$200 smartphones. This optical image stabilization will significantly improve low-light photography and video recording stability.

AI Features That Matter

Samsung isn’t holding back on AI capabilities for budget users. The Galaxy A17 includes:

• Google Gemini integration: Built-in access from the power button
• Circle to Search: Google’s visual search technology
• Cross App AI: Powered by Gemini for enhanced productivity

Impressive Software Support Promise

Perhaps most surprising is Samsung’s commitment to budget users: 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. Launching with One UI 7 based on Android 15, this level of long-term support is unprecedented for sub-$200 devices.

Battery & Charging Specs

The Galaxy A17 packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging support, and surprisingly includes the charger in the box – a welcome return to practical packaging in the budget segment.

Durability & Protection

IP54 rating provides dust and water resistance, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the premium Super AMOLED display from daily wear and scratches.

Expected Launch Timeline

Following the Galaxy A16’s October 2024 announcement, expect a similar launch window for the A17 this year, likely after the Galaxy S25 FE debuts.

With multiple RAM configurations and storage options, the Galaxy A17 aims to democratize premium smartphone features while maintaining Samsung’s reputation for quality in the budget segment.
