“I don’t know why he told me that. I think he was trying to say that it would have spoiled my image and fan following. It was the worst and most bizarre advice that someone ever gave me,” Saif said plainly.

My director had once told me, joote maarenge log — and that when the film would be screened at Chandan, they may laugh at me and hate me, and I’ll be out of work.”

Ironically, the best advice Saif received came from the very person he was told to hide. He credits Amrita Singh for being the only person who taught him to take his craft seriously. She told him, “You can’t hit the target while laughing at it.” That shift in mindset led directly to his breakthrough performance in Parampara.
