After Stranger Things, Sadie Sink Is Already Landing Her Next Big Role in The Marriage — And It’s Nothing Like Max Mayfield

If you thought Sadie Sink was going to take a long break after Stranger Things wrapped, think again. The actress is reportedly set to lead a brand-new limited series for FX, and the project has all the hallmarks of a prestige hit — a celebrated novel, an A-list production house, and a visionary director behind the camera.

The Marriage Plot: Everything You Need to Know

What Is The Marriage Plot About?

The series is based on Jeffrey Eugenides’ critically acclaimed 2011 novel of the same name. Set on a 1980s college campus, the story follows three Brown University graduates — Madeleine, Leonard, and Mitchell — as they get tangled in a messy, emotionally charged love triangle right after graduation. At its heart, it’s a smart, literary exploration of whether the classic romantic ideal of the “marriage plot” — where love conquers all and two people end up together — can still hold any meaning in a modern, feminist world.

Sadie Sink is reportedly set to portray Madeleine, the central figure caught between two very different men and two very different versions of her own future. It’s a role that demands emotional depth and nuance — and frankly, Sink has already proven she can deliver exactly that.

The show will be directed by Hiro Murai, best known for his work on Atlanta and Station Eleven, and written by Will Arbery. The combination of Murai’s distinctive visual style and Arbery’s sharp, literary instincts makes this one of the most exciting limited series announcements of 2026. A24 and FX Productions are co-producing — a creative partnership that rarely misses.

Sadie Sink’s Journey So Far

Most fans know Sink as Max Mayfield, the tough, skateboarding redhead from Stranger Things. The sci-fi horror series concluded its run with the fifth and final season, the second volume of which landed on December 31, 2025. It was a massive farewell to one of streaming’s most beloved shows — and Sink’s performance throughout was consistently one of its emotional highlights.

But she hasn’t been idle. Between seasons, she took on Juliet Capulet in a stage production of Romeo & Juliet at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End — a bold choice that showed she’s serious about range, not just franchise work.

Next up on the film front, Sink appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film releases on July 31, 2026. For the latest on all things Hollywood and OTT, keep an eye on TechnoSports.

Why The Marriage Plot Is Worth Getting Excited About

Between the source material, the creative team, and Sadie Sink’s rising star power, this limited series has genuine awards-season potential written all over it. A24 doesn’t greenlight projects casually, and Hiro Murai directing a literary campus drama set in the 1980s sounds like a dream combination. Whether you’re a fan of Sink or just love prestige television, this one belongs on your radar right now.
