He turned things around from 81-3 in 10.3 overs to 222-3 at the end of the innings. In comparison, the rest of the team was only able to score 99 runs including extras.
In the process, Gaikwad became the ninth-ever Indian to score a T20I century, with the last player being Yashasvi Jaiswal. The batter has had a remarkable tournament, after scoring a half-century against Australia in their previous game.
