“Revival” Is Coming To Netflix — And Fans Hold The Key To Season 2

One of last year’s best-reviewed horror series just got a major streaming boost — but this time, the fate of a second season rests entirely in fans’ hands. Revival, the acclaimed supernatural horror series, is heading to Netflix US, and it’s essentially an audition for renewal.

Revival: Overview

What’s The Show About?

Based on the New York Times Best-Selling comic series, Revival flips the zombie genre on its head. Set in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly come back to life — not as mindless zombies, but as the “revived,” looking and remembering exactly who they were, rejoining their families as if nothing happened. Naturally, things don’t stay peaceful for long.

The cast is stacked, led by Wynonna Earp favorite Melanie Scrofano, alongside Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead), Phil Brooks (WWE’s CM Punk), and more.

Why Season 2 Depends On You

Despite a stellar 90% Rotten Tomatoes score and a Golden Tomato Award nomination standing shoulder-to-shoulder with hits like Alien: Earth and The Last of Us, Season 2 hasn’t been greenlit. Showrunner Aaron B. Koontz revealed that Netflix is open to ordering more episodes — but only if the show performs well on the platform, which typically means strong total viewership and completion rates.

Co-creator Luke Boyce put it simply: fans who want more need to watch, finish the season, and spread the word around August 24.

The Playbook For Fans

1. Watch it as close to premiere day as possible — opening weekend numbers matter most.
2. Finish it — Netflix tracks how many viewers reach the final episode.
3. Talk about it on social media to boost word-of-mouth momentum.

This kind of fan-driven renewal effort echoes past success stories in television revival culture, where shows like Lucifer and Manifest found new life after being picked up by streaming platforms.

The Takeaway

Revival has the critical acclaim and passionate fanbase to earn a second season — now it just needs the numbers to back it up. Mark your calendars for August 24 and make it count.
