Resident Evil 9 Delayed Due to Major Series Reinvention

Resident Evil as a series is going to take its time with the next entry, since Resident Evil 9 will be a major reinvention of the franchise, according to well-known insider Dusk Golem. Talking on X about the game, Dusk Golem said that after the title is revealed, fans will understand why it had such a long development time. He called the new entry a daring reinvention of the series, akin to the ways Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 redefined the franchise at their time.

Resident Evil 9 to Be a Major Reinvention, Likely Revealed This Year, Says Insider

It’s also worth mentioning that this game is likely to be a good bit more ambitious than its direct predecessors, as well as the more recent remakes, offering entirely new mechanics and gameplay elements. The game will be nothing like what came before it, according to Dusk Golem. He remains convinced it’ll be shown formally in some capacity this year, and that it may even be part of the big summer gaming announcement avalanche that’s become so common in recent years.

As of now, there’s not much concrete info about Resident Evil 9 aside from its lengthy development cycle. Rumors from early last year claimed fan favorites Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine would be heavily involved in the game. However, Dusk Golem has called BS on claims and said that is not true. As for Resident Evil 9, CAPCOM is also developing a remake of Resident Evil Zero, which, it’s said, will be the next planned reimagining for the franchise.

Even though Resident Evil 9 has not yet been formally announced, excitement for the title is building. With CAPCOM being synonymous with groundbreaking survival horror, there are high expectations for details as they come out. And if the game gets a reveal this year, it could serve as yet another big evolution for the franchise, potentially ushering in a new type of experience for Resident Evil itself. While waiting, fans will have to devise what may be the most sanguine entry in the franchise, until there is an official announcement from the franchise.
