Marvel fans can usually agree on one thing: they want more Sam Wilson content. So why is a leak suggesting exactly that splitting the fandom right down the middle? The answer says a lot about how “Avengers: Doomsday” has been handled so far — and how badly fans want it to stick the landing.

What the Leak Actually Says

According to the report, “Avengers: Doomsday” is currently undergoing reshoots, and a significant chunk of that new footage is reportedly being built around giving Sam Wilson’s Captain America more screen time. For a film juggling an enormous ensemble cast — from the Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four to the X-Men and Wakandans — carving out extra space for one character is a notable claim, and it’s exactly the kind of detail that gets fandoms talking within minutes.

Why Fans Are Divided Instead of Celebrating

On the surface, this should be good news. Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has been a fan-favorite since his MCU debut, and giving him more prominence in the franchise’s biggest crossover event yet sounds like a win. But the reaction has been more complicated than simple excitement. While plenty of fans are thrilled at the idea of Sam getting his moment, others are asking the more uncomfortable question: why wasn’t he already positioned front and center before reshoots became necessary?

That question cuts to the heart of ongoing fan anxiety around “Doomsday” — a film so massive and so secretive that even small casting or screen-time adjustments feel like signals of bigger structural issues behind the scenes.

Reshoots Aren’t Necessarily a Red Flag

It’s worth remembering that reshoots are a standard part of blockbuster filmmaking, not a sign of trouble by default. Big ensemble films routinely use additional shooting time to sharpen pacing, rebalance character arcs, or strengthen moments that didn’t land the first time around. For a project as sprawling as “Doomsday,” adjusting focus toward a character like Sam Wilson could simply reflect smart, responsive filmmaking rather than a script in crisis.

A Pattern of Leaks Ahead of Doomsday

This isn’t the first time “Doomsday” details have surfaced online before Marvel intended. Earlier in the year, leaked footage reportedly showing the X-Men, Shang-Chi, and other heroes battling Doom’s Sentinels made the rounds, and separate leaks claimed to show Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Deadpool together on set. Marvel has shown a full trailer only once, behind closed doors at CinemaCon, leaving the wider public working off descriptions and bootleg clips ever since — a secrecy strategy that seems to be backfiring in the form of near-constant unofficial reveals.

Whether this particular leak proves accurate or not, it’s a reminder that the appetite for Avengers: Doomsday content is currently outpacing what Marvel Studios has been willing to officially share, and that gap keeps getting filled by scoopers, leaks, and fan speculation.
