Redmi just flipped the script on entry-level smartphones. The Redmi A7 Pro 5G — the first-ever Pro model in the Redmi A Series — went on sale in India today, April 15, 2026, and it’s packing specs that frankly have no business being under ₹12,000.

What’s Actually Impressive Here?

Let’s start with the display. A 6.9-inch screen with 120Hz refresh rate at this price is genuinely rare. Add 800 nits peak brightness, Wet Touch Technology 2.0 (yes, it works with wet fingers), and the fact that it’s the only phone in its segment with triple TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certification — and you’ve got a screen that’s built for real-world, all-day use.

Then there’s the battery: a 6,300mAh cell — the largest in its segment — housed in a body that’s just 8.15mm slim. That combination alone makes it stand out on a crowded shelf.

To understand why 5G smartphones are rapidly becoming the default even at budget price points in India, the shift is largely driven by expanding network coverage and dropping component costs — and the A7 Pro is a direct result of that trend.

Software: HyperOS 3.0 Brings Smart Features Downmarket

This is where the “Pro” in the name earns its keep. The Redmi A7 Pro 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0 — a first for the A Series — bringing Google Gemini, Circle to Search, HyperIsland multitasking, and Xiaomi Interconnectivity to a sub-₹14,000 phone. These are features typically reserved for mid-range and above devices.

Should You Buy the Redmi A7 Pro 5G?
