Red Magic 12 Pro+ Launch on October 15: 6 Details of Its RGB Water Cooling

Gaming phones love bold ideas, and the Red Magic 12 Pro+ has one of the boldest yet. Red Magic has teased what it calls the industry’s first RGB water-cooled phone, and the launch is set for October 15.

The brand is part of Nubia, and its teasers so far focus on cooling and design. Follow our Red Magic 12 Pro+ tag page for updates once the phone is official.

How the Water Cooling Works

Red Magic says the phone uses a dual-ring circulation system, where liquid moves through the body to carry heat away from the chip. A dual-crystal micro-pump drives the flow at 130 kPa, which is higher than the 100 kPa of the previous design. The liquid is a non-conductive fluorinated coolant, a choice meant to keep the electronics safe. A fan works with the system as a hybrid design, and a light guide gives the RGB glow that gives the cooling its name.

Design and Display Changes

The teasers also point to a thinner and lighter chassis than the last model. The bezels have shrunk from 1.25 mm to 0.96 mm, which should give the screen a cleaner, more immersive look. Further display details have not yet been shared.

Why Cooling Matters for Gamers

A flagship chip such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 can run hot during long sessions, and phones often slow down to protect themselves. Better cooling can keep frame rates steadier for longer. If Red Magic’s approach works as claimed, it could be a real advantage for mobile gamers. Still, the claims come from the brand, and only independent tests can show how large the benefit is. Learn about the company at Wikipedia.

What Is Not Confirmed

Pricing, RAM and storage options, battery capacity, charging speed, camera hardware, display size and global or India availability have not been shared. Red Magic says configurations and pricing will be revealed at the launch event. The “industry’s first” label is also the company’s own claim.

What Makes This Phone Different From Other Gaming Phones

Gaming phones from rival brands rely on large vapour chambers, fans and heat-spreading layers. A liquid loop is a different approach, and an RGB light guide turns the cooling hardware into a visible design feature. That mix of function and show is classic Red Magic, a brand that has always leaned into bold looks. The reduced bezels and slimmer body also suggest the company wants the 12 Pro+ to be easier to hold, which has been a common complaint about heavy gaming phones.

Keep in mind that a more complex cooling system can add cost, weight or points of failure. Reviewers will want to test how the phone behaves after long sessions, how loud the fan is, and whether the liquid system affects battery size. Until those tests arrive, the teaser is promising but incomplete. The launch on October 15 should answer most of these questions, including the price.
