The Spanish Super Cup, also known as the Supercopa de Espana is a mini-knockout tournament. Four teams participate in the tournament – the top two teams of La Liga (Real Madrid, Barcelona) and the finalists of the Copa del Rey (Real Betis, Valencia).

The Supercopa de Espana mini-tournament will not be held in Spain this time. Instead, like last time, it will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid are the current winner of the Spanish Super Cup having won the final 2-0 against Athletic Bilbao last season.

Real Madrid will play the first semi-final of the tournament as they will take on Valencia tonight. Los Blancos would want to win this trophy to motivate themselves midway through the season and give Barcelona a tough chase in the La Liga title race.
