Real Madrid close to signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid are close to signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder was a target for several Premier League clubs, but has seemingly decided to move to Spain.

Juni Calafat, the chief scout for Los Blancos, reportedly had an important part to play in convincing the England international. The deal is now in the final stages of being completed, based on several sources from Spain, as well as Fabrizio Romano.

Jude Bellingham to sign for Real Madrid in the coming days

The Spanish side have built a very impressive squad full of talented young midfielders such as Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. And the addition of Jude Bellingham would only make it better.

Dortmund were initially holding out for a transfer fee in the region of €140 million. However, Madrid’s offer is closer to €120 million. Personal terms are almost agreed with the player, after multiple meetings with Juni Calafat. They are planning to finalise the agreement over the transfer this month itself in order to avoid any late U-turns as they did with Aurelien Tchouameni.

The 19-year-old will not be earning as much money as he would in the Premier League. But, the appeal of playing for Real Madrid has seemingly stood out to him more than returning home and playing in England.

This season, Bellingham has scored five goals and provided five assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances this season. And even though Dortmund are second in the table, they are only one point behind leaders Bayern Munich. As a result, there is a slight chance that they could win the Bundesliga title after 10 years. Any announcement regarding the transfer is expected at the end of the season, owing to their title pursuit.
