RCB Star Yash Dayal’s IPL 2026 Dream Hangs by a Thread as Court Denies Bail

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s championship celebrations may be overshadowed as their star pacer Yash Dayal faces a major legal setback. A Jaipur POCSO court recently rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a case involving allegations of sexual assault of a minor, putting his IPL 2026 participation in serious doubt.

Yash Dayal’s Controversy Unfolds

The 19-year-old alleged victim, who was 17 when she first met Dayal, claims he promised to help advance her cricket career but instead exploited her over a two-and-a-half-year period. The case, registered at Sanganer Sadar police station in Jaipur, includes allegations of repeated assaults at hotels in both Jaipur and Kanpur.

Court’s Stern Stance

Judge Alka Bansal ruled that available evidence indicates Dayal’s possible involvement, determining that anticipatory bail could not be granted at this time. The court noted that materials on record do not suggest false implication, a significant blow to Dayal’s defense team.

Defense Claims Conspiracy

Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, maintains his client only met the complainant in public spaces and alleges this is part of an extortion plot. The defense points to a similar case filed in Ghaziabad, which they claim supports their conspiracy theory.

RCB’s Dilemma

The defending IPL champions retained Dayal ahead of IPL 2026, but this decision now appears questionable. The left-arm pacer hasn’t played cricket since RCB’s IPL 2025 title victory in June, and prospects of his return look increasingly bleak.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has already banned Dayal from the UPT20 League. If found guilty, he faces potential bans from the BCCI and termination of his RCB contract, which could derail a promising career.
