Ravi Mohan’s Rs 40 Lakh “Maintenance” Row: The Real Math Behind The Number

Divorce headlines love a big number — and “Rs 40 lakh a month” has been doing the rounds about actor Ravi Mohan and estranged wife Aarti Ravi. But according to Aarti’s mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, the internet got the story wrong.

What Sujatha Actually Said

Speaking to the press, Sujatha clarified that the Rs 40 lakh figure was never a personal allowance demand from Aarti. It’s a combined monthly total covering the couple’s children — school fees, food, tuition, and extracurriculars — not a lump sum for Aarti herself.

She also alleged that Ravi Mohan left the family in serious debt, claiming a bank had even issued a japti (seizure notice), leaving the kids without money for basic school expenses.

Where The Rs 40 Lakh Comes From

Sujatha stressed that Aarti never stopped Ravi Mohan from meeting the kids — the number is purely about covering their upbringing costs, not cutting him off emotionally.

Ravi Mohan’s Cryptic Reply

Hours later, Ravi Mohan posted on Instagram Stories: he thanked people who “stood by him like true friends,” called out those acting with “contempt,” and declared that “the 4 of us will not ever be in the same room together” as long as he’s alive — a clear signal the rift shows no sign of healing.

The back-and-forth is the latest chapter in one of South cinema’s most talked-about separations, following months of public allegations from both sides.
