Rapper Santy Sharma called the viral Cockroach Janta Party movement “internet drama” on Instagram — and the internet exploded. Here’s who he is and what he actually said.

India’s internet has a new battleground — and this time, the weapons are Instagram posts, viral reels, and one very blunt rapper from Madhya Pradesh.

Rapper Santy Sharma Cockroach Janta Party remarks have ignited one of the biggest online debates of the week. What did he say? Why does it matter? And who exactly is Santy Sharma? Let’s break it down.

Rapper Santy Sharma vs CJP: At a Glance

What Is the Cockroach Janta Party?

Founded by 30-year-old Ahijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janata Party is an internet movement that has captured attention for its meme-heavy content and humorous commentary on unemployment, laziness, and the everyday frustrations faced by young people in India. The self-proclaimed “voice of the unemployed and lazy” has especially resonated with Gen Z and meme culture audiences, who continue to share viral edits, parody campaigns, and humorous slogans inspired by the movement.

In short, it is the kind of thing that looks like satire until someone starts asking serious questions about who is running it and why.

What Santy Sharma Actually Said

Taking to Instagram, Santy Sharma described the movement as merely “internet drama” and warned others not to fall prey to such viral campaigns without first investigating the truth behind the movement and its leaders.

He wrote: “The ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ appears to be more of an internet drama than a serious movement. Nowadays, many people follow trends without verifying the backgrounds of those spearheading such campaigns. The founder of this so-called CJP reportedly has ties to the Aam Aadmi Party.”

He also emphasised that spreading constant outrage, creating online chaos, and pushing unnecessary propaganda are not constructive ways to contribute to the country’s progress.

Sharma also stated that several online accounts were touting the trend that seemed to be linked to anti-India narratives from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Who Is Santy Sharma?

Santy Sharma is an Indian rapper, singer, music producer, and internet personality known for his independent music releases and outspoken opinions on trending social issues.

He recently came into the limelight when he supported Badshah in the Tateeree controversy — and has since built a following by mixing music with direct social commentary that speaks to urban, digitally-aware Indian youth.

He is not a mainstream Bollywood name. He does not need to be. His influence lives entirely online, which makes his critique of CJP land with a particular kind of credibility among the very audience the movement is targeting.

Why This Debate Matters

Celebrating global trends and events instead of constructive issues like employment, education, development, innovation, and unity is inflicting emotional damage on many social media users, Sharma said.

He called for “responsible nationalism,” informed discussions online, and highlighted how social media trends can sometimes influence public opinion without proper verification.

The debate is bigger than one rapper and one meme party. It is a question India’s online generation will keep facing: when does viral become propaganda?
