Ram Charan Opens Up: The ‘Rough Dad’ Who Raises Fearless Kids While Upasana Holds the Family Together

Ram Charan, one of Telugu cinema’s biggest superstars, is living his most fulfilling role yet — dad of three. In a candid interview with Esquire India, the RRR actor gave fans a rare, heartwarming glimpse into his home life, parenting philosophy, and the beautiful balance he and wife Upasana Konidela have struck as a team.

Ram Charan’s Parenting Style

The ‘Rough Dad’ Who Builds Courage

Ram Charan doesn’t sugarcoat his parenting approach. “I’m the rough kind of dad. The one who lets them jump, play dirty, climb, and take risks,” he told the magazine. He sees himself as the parent his kids run to when they need courage — while Upasana is the warm, nurturing anchor who holds everything together at home.

It’s a parenting dynamic many couples will relate to. One parent pushes gently toward independence, the other wraps everyone in warmth and safety. Together, they make a complete team.

What Ram Charan Is Learning From His Own Kids

Here’s the part that’ll melt your heart. Despite being one of India’s highest-paid entertainers, Ram admits his children are teaching him something invaluable. “I would like to take that hack from them… how easy it is to be happy in life,” he shared.

He also reflected on a deeper truth: “The biggest lesson we learn is from observing our parents.” That sense of responsibility clearly shapes every decision he and Upasana make — from choosing Montessori education (known for nurturing creativity and independent thinking) to deliberately keeping their world small and meaningful.

A Full House, A Grounded Life

With twin babies Shivram and Anveera joining older sister Klin Kaara, Ram says his house is full — in the best way. He calls his kids “heartbeats outside my heart” and admits their arrival has completely changed his rhythm. Even his pets are considered core family. “I try to keep my world a little small, contained,” he said.

Despite the stardom, Ram’s goal is clear — to be a present father first. Want more on Ram Charan’s upcoming projects? Check out the latest Ram Charan news on TechnoSports.
